Not everyone can design an actor website

Actor Website Tip #29

Make sure your designer knows a thing or two about acting

I'm so tired of the cheesy clip arts and non-related images of globes and handshakes on all the actor websites. I'm sure that all the casting directors can attest to the same.

Unfortunately when someone doesn't know anything about a certain craft, they'll do a quick search for images and that's the stuff that normally comes up.

"You're an actor? Okay, here's a picture of a mime for your website. Like it?"

Find a place that specializes in actor websites (such as IADB, hint, hint) - if they also "specialize" in wedding websites and party websites and 100 other types of websites, that pretty much means they don't have a specialty and they just jump on anything that comes along. If they don't understand what should go on your website and depend on you telling them, you might end up with a sub-par actor website.
